The mission of Kids First is to provide funding for special projects and programs that are designed to enhance the lives and learning experiences of the students and teachers in our public schools.


The Kids First Fund was founded in 1994 after realizing the need improve the lives and learning of students within the Racine Unified School District. It is an endowment fund within the Racine Community Foundation. A Kids First Fund Advisory Committee, consisting of educators, community and business leaders reviews grant requests each spring and fall. The Kids First Fund issues thousands of dollars in grants annually.

After years of leadership under the direction of visionary and distinguished educator William Boyd, Kids First Fund continues as a public-private partnership making a difference in the lives of the children in our public schools.
